Beck’s Cafe and themage

I am really liking Beck's Cafe now. At Typepad, things felt somewhat constrained and limited. With Beck's Cafe on WordPress and A Small Orange, I'm feeling pretty good that I can do pretty much whatever I like. The theme part though is something I have to play with. I like using what I have now, wp-andreas09, but I'm yearning for these new simple themes that are coming out now. The point of Beck's Cafe is the writing, the content and hopefully the dialogue around it. Does my current theme and color scheme help or hinder that? I'm not sure. The black and white coloration emphasizes the writing, but looks so drab. The color seems to pull people's eyes back to the sidebars away from the core writing – maybe it's just me. So we'll see.

So the work is moving along

So the work is moving along slowly but surely on the new Beck's Cafe If you want a sneak preview click to this link here to see. I have to say, the importing from Typepad on both links and posts was amazingly easily. I just had to do some clean up here and there. Some images didn't like the move, but I'd say overall it was about as easy as it gets. And I like the way things are turning out, the look, feel and style of the new Beck's Cafe. The WordPress 2.02 software is nice. It feels easier and simpler to use but with all the same power as Typepad had. So far whatever I've posted to it or done to it hasn't made it flinch I won't switch over from Typepad for a while as there is lots of tweaking I'd like to do and I just want to be sure the whole platform on A Small Orange/WordPress is at least as stable as Typepad is now.

Over the course of the next 30-60 days I'll be moving Beck's Cafe over to a WordPress 2.0 site hosted at A Small Orange
